On my day off work I meet up with Greta & Hrönn, two good friends for a “fika” (random coffee and chat) downtown. Love all the little cafes downtown and my favorite one now is Reykjavik Roasters, I am so picky with my coffee and in my opinion they make the best coffee in Reykjavik. After a chat and coffee we headed for a little shopping :)

My Best friends and companion Nova, turned 9 years old !!
Nova has been by my side for many years, I cant imagine life without her. To hear her snore in her bed makes our house a home, I wish I can freeze her age now. Everyday with her is a blessing and I hope she will be by my side for many more years <3
The light number you can find here – perfect as Birthday decoration.

I have been obsessed with Rifle Paper Co since I first saw the brand in New York 2008. There is not one item I don’t like in their catalog, everything from them is so perfectly made.
I am the type of person that wont remember anything without my daily planner, it is very important for me to have a good one that has good over view of the full week and looks good everyday when I take it up from my purse. I was happy when Rifle Paper Co released their daily pocket planners, and they where of course the most beautiful planners I have ever seen. I just had to take them in to our store and let more people than me discover this beautiful brand, Erna Hrund got her self a planner in September last year and you can read her review here.
The daily pocket planners are available in two colors, black or blue and you can find them – Here

Our little family decided to go to our summer house in Sweden over Christmas and visit our Swedish side. We had some wonderful days just relaxing and enjoying each others company, here are some everyday pictures of our trip.
I hope you had a good Holiday break and I wish you a very happy New Year!

I wanted to bring up a subject that is close to my heart and a situation I to often find myself in, unfortunately.
I have been hard working since the age of fourteen, I started working in a pizzeria serving pizza and kebabs to 4am every weekend and at the age of 23 I was the communication/marketing manger at a big car firm in Sweden representing Volvo Cars. I was never handed anything, I learned that everything is earned by hard work and dedication.
When I got my fist career job at Volvo many raised an eyebrow, I also later sat in the board of the customer service and I was far the youngest to attend the board ever. I had to earn my respect and my voice was not heard in the meetings, it took me many months to get my opinions heard. Also the car industry is very dominated by men so being a young girl in this business was very tough and I needed to have more “skin on my nose” than I wanted to.
I am now older and been in many business situations dealing and trading with all kinds of people, I got good at reading the different types of personality’s going in to a meeting. BUT even years of experience I still, from time to time get treated by (and I am said to say this) middle age men as I have no idea what I am doing or talking about. I often been put down by men, even men that I buy huge amounts of products from, they treat and say things to me that they would never say to a man in my position. This is something that I experience way to often and instead of sending my husband next time because they would probably treat him with more respect I still continue to go until my respect is earned. Said to write about and I know women been talking about this issue for years, it is the same issue with different head lines, the underline is just the same – treat me with equal respect!
I am writing about this subject now because I had a situation not to long ago where a man in business blew of some steam on me, just because I was a easy target. This man would never have talked to me in that way had I been a man in the same position, sadly. Little did he know I own the company his company is dealing with and after this coincidence we will deal very little with them. I wont continue to “feed” anyone that feels that they can talk down to other people, this is his lesson to learn. All people should be traded equality and with respect by each other no matter age, position or genre.

Last night I finally finished Toras Christmas calendar. This is a tradition I had as a child and everyday before school I got one little gift from my Christmas calendar. I know here you have the Icelandic Jólasveinar and the shoe in the window tradition and this one is very similar to that, one little gift a day but for the whole of December. Now this will sound crazy but we couldn’t decide on what tradition to have for Tora so we have both.. yes I know it is way too much for a little 2 year old but to ease your worries over how much we spoil our kid she only gets very small things and sometimes just a gingerbread cookie or crayons and paper. It’s nothing of much value, just small stuff to keep the traditions from both sides. I’m just hoping she doesn’t wake up to a potato in her shoe some day.
Gunnar and the Jólasveinar take care of the shoe and I take care of the Christmas calendar. Gunnar also takes care of eating the skyr, meat and whatnot that we leave for santa by the shoe ;)
I love the brown paper and the “traditional” look of gifts.

Our Christmas calendar is from Bloomingville, available HERE.
The “stamp” is from TGR.
God Jul,

I finally got us a Lightbox for our bedroom, so cosy and stylish, I love it!
I would say this is the perfect Christmas gift to anyone, at any age. In the kids room, living room, bedroom or for a party of any kind the Lightboxes are awesome. They come in three sizes, A5, A4 and A3 (the one in the pictures).

I believe my passion for flowers was “planted” at a early age, you can say I had no choice. My parents named me after a little Swedish flower called Linnéa, it was also the favorite flower by the flower man himself (Carl von Linné) he named it after himself. Not only that… my first word was “Blomma” (flower in Swedish) and as long as I can remember I always loved flowers and I had great interest in flowers. It is not until now I can see that it was pretty made up for me to have a flower interest, my great grand parents had a huge flower plantation that I just to just lay in and look at all the different types and shapes of flowers.
I of course dream of having my own flower store, I am positive I will make that dream come true, one day, but until then I am just pretending to be a florist ;)
Here are some of my Christmas flower decorations for this year. Hope you get inspired.

2. South Africa’s national flower Protea in a vase from Deisgn House Sthlm.
3. White large amaryllis in IKEA glass jar that I took the lit off.

Julen (Christmas in Swedish) is around the corner and I have started to decorate, both at home and in our store. My friends call me the Grinch of Christmas because I am very specific on how much and how I decorate. No plastic, no red lights and no polyester, with other words not a very American Christmas ;) I try to use as much natrual elements as possible but still get a Christmas atmosphere.
Here is a super simple DIY Christmas ornament I made for our store, the ornaments would also look nice in a Christmas tree.
I got pinecones from Hakaup and small white hooks with screws from Husasmidjan.
Then its just to screw in the hooks on top of the pinecones, very easy by hand.
I made a “spay box” and hanged the pine-cones on strings.
Spray away, in any color you like. Pretty obvious I would spay mine in white ;)
Then you have a really simple and beautiful ornament.
Love,
L
