My secret to no stretch marks

tips and tricks

Stretch marks are very common and mostly hormonal, some people get them easy and others don’t. I have stretch marks on my thighs that I got when I was a teenager, so I know that I can get stretch marks easy. Stretch marks are nothing to be ashamed of, they are the proud marks of motherhood and carrying a child. But to be honest, I would choose to not have any if I could. With carrying twins I am now taking extra care of my skin because my skin on the belly will be stretched out to its maximum by the end of the pregnancy. Now I am in week 34 and when my midwife measured my belly she said it is the size of a pregnancy with one child in week 45. Even if I get stretch marks that is very likely, I want to make sure I did everything I could and that I keep them moisturized so they wont get too deep and red.

This is what I do,

1. Drink a lot of water, I drink at least 3L a day.

2. Eat natural fats like avocado, cocoa butter, almonds, coconut oil and Hemp-seed oil.

3. Do not scratch my belly, as soon I feel my itchy belly try to not scratch and instead add moisturizer. I use Weleda stretch mark oil.

4. Try to oil my belly 2-3times a day.

5. Take my vitamins and most of all Omega3 / Lysi.

Everyday I put Weleda – Stretch Mark Massage Oil on my belly and boobs & I drink one spoon of Cold pressed Hemp-seed oil to keep my skin moisturized from the inside and outside. I also take Lysi/Omega3. I have bad eczema and now when I am good with my oils the eczema is totally gone, so it really shows how well the skin absorb all the oils.

I am in week 34 with our Twins. But my belly is as big as women carrying one child in week 45.

Our XMas

Life

For me Icelandic Christmas starts really late, in Sweden we are up early for breakfast (opening one gift), then Christmas lunch buffet after that coffee and traditional Donald Duck on tv, then comes Santa Claus with all gifts and then dinner. It is a full day of food and gifts. Here our Christmas doesn’t really start until 17.00 when we go to my parent’s in law and eat and then later open gifts. So our little family add some Swedish traditions on top of the Icelandic to fill out our day. We woke up late and had a big brunch with all sorts of good morning food and then we tune in to SVT (Swedish television) and watched “Kalle Anka” (Donald duck) with our coffee. I also made some Swedish chocolate truffles with raspberry taste. After that we went out on the sleigh and then church before dinner at Gunnars parents.

Þóra loves watching Swedish traditional Kalle Anka.

My home made chocolate truffles was a success.

Super pregnant in week 33 now ?

Our two little boys on the way also got a gift this year. Baby’s first book from DesignLetters.

Giving the birds bread on our balcony.

I hope you all had a beautiful day yesterday and I wish you a happy New Year ✨

Print from your phone

Lifetips and tricks

About 4months ago my old phone stopped working, when I couldn’t turn my phone on anymore I panicked, all the pictures of Þóra is in the phone and I still haven’t printed them or saved them somewhere else. It was pictures from when she was born, when she started to walk, eat etc. My most valuable memories. Thank goodness the phone store was able to restore all my images and we got them on a usb stick, but after this experience I am very careful to always print all my phone images regular, bc there are so many memories I only have in my phone.

I was happy to find this app – Lalalab

Now I only go to the app and select what images I want to print and in what format and send them. It is super easy and they arrive after a week just in my post. I think the price is good and the quality of the pictures comes out great.

I recommend this 100% !

Now I only need to find a nice album or book to put in all our memories ?

Our Nursery Corner

Trying to be ready for our boy’s arrival at this point they can choose to come any day.. I hope they stay in to next year. It is hard to be “ready” for twins, we have no clue what to expect more than very little sleep ?

Today we put up the bed, babynest and washed the bedding. Most things we have is from Petit, the simple reason is that we think it is all beautiful and we know the good quality of the products. With these babies we are trying to have them mostly around pure produced products, so far all clothing, the bedding and babynest is made from organic cotton. Not only do I love the feeling and look of pure materials, one reason for organic is also that our babies are very likely to be born premature with a low immune system and to have them around organic products minimizes the risks of skin irritations and allergies. There is so much coloring, glue and chemicals in none organic products and the skin is the body’s biggest organ that absorbs very much into our system.

My Baby Shower

Life

It is hard to explain with words how happy my friends made me by surprising me with a baby shower.

I never had one before and I have never been to one myself so I did not think I would be surprised with a baby shower. My friend Anna picked me up at home and I thought we where going for brunch, then she turned the car around and said I needed to give her my opinion on a new rug she was buying. I was not at all suspicious, we talk interior all the time and often ask for each others opinion. Then when we got t her home and I walked in my friends where there, I was so surprised and started crying. I have never had anyone to surprise me like this before.

It was all so Perfect!

Baby Birth – Natural or Cesarean?

KidsLife

img_6993

Today we are 28weeks – meet my midwife and she measured my bump, the same size now as when I was 35 weeks with Þóra Lóa, this is getting close and I am a little nervous about the birth to be honest.  My birth story with Þóra was not drama free and after giving birth to her completely natural my placenta did not come out in one piece and I had to go into emergency operation. I lost half of my blood in 10min and was completely put down to sleep for the operation. After the operation I woke up in another house, no baby and no Gunnar, It was a nightmare because I know I just gave birth and then they where not there. The reason why I decided to give birth naturally with Þóra was so I could completely be in the moment the minutes after she arrived and enjoy every second with her, then everything I did not want to happen did. So with that in my back I am not sure if I am ready to try to give birth to them natural, also because this is a twin birth and that there can be a emergency cesarean on the second baby and I again will be put down completely. Maybe it is just more relaxing knowing that we will have a planned cesarean and I will be awake the whole time, but then again the recovery of a cesarean is not easy. I haven’t decided on this yet and next week we are meeting a birth doctor to see what she says.

I would love to hear your birth story if you would like to share it with me in the comment filed  :)
